We, Washington Positive Peer Pressure (WPX3), as a group, have co-developed surveys and collected data from over 800 sophomores and juniors at our school. Now, we are working on the media and visual projects and are hoping to unveil our posters around school soon! We are making our posters in a variety of ways, hoping to stand out from the rest of the posters in school. It is competitive since there are lots of other clubs and programs putting out posters. We are posting some of our surprising facts from our peers. For example, we learned that 84% of students at Wash have not drank or hardly drank alcohol in the last year; however, ONLY 41% reported that they thought the same was true for other students. That means that students think that their peers drink much more than they actually do! We also learned that 89% of students have not drank or hardly ever drank before or during school. And, noticing that many teenagers now drive to school, it would be very dangerous if they drink and drive. Another surprising fact is that 79.1% of students have not driven while drinking in the last year!!! We are well on our way to reaching our goal, which is to reduce underage drinking and the serious consequences of drinking and driving through positive peer pressure!
